Section One: New Student Orientation
A School Year
A school year is divided into four quarters. A quarter is ten to eleven weeks. The school year begins the first of September and proceeds as follows: The first (Fall) quarter begins the first Monday of September. The second (Winter) quarter begins the first Monday of December. The third (Spring) quarter begins the first Monday of March. The Fourth (Summer) quarter begins the first Monday of June. Quarters 1, 2, and 3 will offer three courses each quarter for a total of nine courses offered in three quarters. A fourth elective course will be offered each quarter, and can be taken any of the three regular quarters to gain the tenth course unit. Note: You only have to take the elective course one time. The course is called an elective only because you can choose which quarter you want to take it. The tenth credit elective is not offered during the Summer quarter. A summer quarter will offer some repeat courses for the student who wants to spread his/her course load out over a twelve month period. For example: Rather than take three courses each regular quarter (plus elective) and take the Summer off; a student may adjust his/her schedule to take 2 two course quarters and 2 three course quarters and earn ten units in 12 months.
Course Load
A full course load is ten courses per year (12 months). However, a student may take as many courses as he/she desires. When planning his/her course load, the student should look at the schedule for the entire school year (four quarters) and see which four classes will be offered during the Summer quarter. He/she may want to skip a particular course during the regular three quarters and take it during the Summer quarter.
Student Status
There are two classifications for Cherith Bible Institute students. There are those who take the courses for credit, and those who audit the courses. Those who take the courses for credit are working toward a Three Year Diploma in Biblical Studies which is awarded after the completion of 30 courses. Those who audit courses simply attend the weekly lectures but do not take the evaluation at the end of each course. An audit student will not receive a grade or transcript for the course. However, if a student who has registered as audit status decides to take the evaluation, he/she will be automatically changed to credit status when he/she submits the evaluation grade for the course. Each student MUST designate credit or audit status when registering
Awards
Cherith Bible Institute is organized solely for the purpose of helping Independent, Bible believing local church pastors establish their members in the faith and train their workers. The vision and goal of Cherith is to offer a Bible centered curriculum designed to help prepare Christian workers for better service to the Lord in their local churches. Cherith Bible Institute is not accredited by any state board of Colleges and Universities or any other accrediting body; nor does it seek to be. However, for those of like ministry and purpose who wish to recognize work completed at Cherith, we offer the following course value which we believe is academically honest. We value each course at 1 (one) credit hour. Presently, a Diploma in Biblical Studies is awarded to those who complete thirty (30) courses.
Course Costs
Because Cherith Bible Institute is a missionary outreach supported by local churches, all courses are offered at no cost to the student. A graduation fee is received from those who are receiving diplomas to cover the expenses of providing a transcript and postage. Those who are blessed by this ministry may want to make donations, help with special needs, or become supporters of Cherith Bible Institute. This is done by contacting the school through E-mail for information.
Section Two: Selecting And Registering For Courses
Most frequently asked questions:
1. Can I register at any quarter? Yes, you can begin your studies at CBI Online at any quarter. If you missed the previous quarters this year, go ahead and register. The previous courses will be offered next year.
2. Do I have to register every quarter? No. You only have to register for Cherith Bible Institute Online one time. If you have ever registered for any quarter, you DO NOT have to register for the next quarter. Once you are registered, you are an active student who can take any course offered during any quarter. Your personal record is updated by the evaluations you complete at the end of each quarter.

Section Three: Preparing For And Starting Classes
Most frequently asked questions:
1. Why is the entry code not given until classes begin? There would be no reason to access the classrooms in the middle of a quarter because lectures have already been missed.
2. How do I obtain the code for the next quarter? You simply submit a code request including your name and Student ID Number. The information needed to submit a request for the code is given when you try to access the classrooms.
1) Do all of the preparation work for the class before the day of the first lecture. Once lectures begin, all other material in the classroom will be removed. The student handout, introduction, and lecture schedule will not be posted once lectures begin.
a) You will be given a classroom entry code when you begin classes. Without this code, you will not be able to enter the classrooms. You will not be given the classroom entry code until the first day of classes. Once you have been approved and registered , you are an active student. This means that you only have to register one time. You DO NOT have to register for the courses you wish to take during future quarters. Once registered, your record is updated by the scores you submit at the end of each quarter.
b) Make sure you have gone to the course information page by clicking on the course name in the schedule given in the Selecting Courses section above. Be sure that you have clicked on the Student Handouts or Lecture Notes button to obtain the notes and assignments for the course.
c) Copy and print a personal copy of Course Introduction and Student handout Notes. Again, we cannot over emphasize the importance of having a copy of these notes before attending classes. These notes will be replaced on the Saturday before classes begin.
d) Do any pre-lecture assignments on the Introduction page.
2) Report to the classroom sometime during the week when the lecture is posted. Enter the classroom by using the classroom entry code for the current quarter. You have one week (Monday through Sunday, U. S. EST) to visit the classroom. After a week, the lecture is removed; and the next lecture is posted.
a) Fill in the blanks on the student handout sheets as you read the lecture.
b) Do any assignments before coming to class the following week.
c) The Student notes are for your personal use in preparing for the evaluation to be given at the end of the course.
1) You DO NOT have to send a copy of your notes to us. Simply keep your copy and continue to fill in the blanks as the lectures are posted.
2) Continually review all marked (*) material in preparation for the evaluation. This will help you avoid last minute cramming for the evaluation.
3) If you study the marked material, you will be prepared for the evaluation.
4) When you see Evaluation Next Session at the end of a lecture, the course material is complete.
Section Four: Taking Evaluations
Read Completely Before Reporting To Take the Evaluation
1) Take the evaluation for the course after the final lecture.
a) After the final lecture, study your notes paying special attention to the marked material. Do not merely memorize the words in the blanks because the question may be worded differently. Study prayerfully. When you feel ready to take the evaluation, put away all notes and study helps and go to the Course Classroom and click on Evaluation.
b) Go to the the Evaluation Room, and make a copy of the evaluation.
c) Follow the instructions for taking the evaluation. Most quarters allow at least two weeks to complete the evaluations. General rules for taking evaluations are the same for all courses. You may study your notes up to the very time you look at the evaluation. Once you have seen the evaluation, no class notes, personal notes, study helps, or Bibles can be open. You will have until the first day of lectures for the next quarter to take the evaluation and submit your scores. All evaluations must be taken, graded, and reported by the first day of the next quarter. Grades will be received later in the case of computer problems, health, and other reasons beyond the students control.
2) Grade and submit your score for the evaluation.
a) When you are satisfied with your answers, report to the Grading Room. You must then go through the grading process. Remember, no changes can be made to the evaluation once you begin the grading process.
b) Go to the Course Classroom and click on Evaluation. When you get to the Evaluation Room, click on the Grading Room. An answer key will be posted the week after the evaluation is given. DO NOT make a copy of the grading key.
c) Follow the instructions on the key to grade your evaluation.
d) Submit your score for the evaluation following the same format given in the Basic Registration instructions.

Section Five: Graduation/ Awarding of Diplomas
Upon completion of all 30 units of study, the student will be awarded a diploma of Biblical Studies protected in a case and a tassel presenting the year of completion. Although some students may not be able to give a donation, Cherith asks the graduating student to help cover the expense of providing a diploma and transcript. A $25 donation is more than reasonable for the training the graduate has obtained in the three year program. Donations are what help us provide this no cost program of study, and with the ever growing number of students, donations have become a need that we are trusting God to use our students to help provide. You may hold the donation until after you have received your diploma. We have faith that God will touch the hearts of those who have profited through this ministry to help support this ministry. (Make any donation check out to Cherith Ministries and mail to the address below) We also ask our graduates to promote Cherith Bible Institute in their churches and tell fellow believers about the program. We will send out information packets to pastors upon request.
Graduation Information Needed
